Ambient music is easy to make badly and brutally hard to make well, which is why most instruments aimed at the genre end up as reverb vomitoriums. The Sonicware Ambient Ø is a $279 plastic box that actually understands the assignment: four independently sequenced layers, an engine built specifically to keep tones from ever settling, and seven tuning systems that matter enormously once your notes start lasting forty seconds.
