Digital Album Sales Soar
Representing still only about 5 percent of total album sales, digital albums sold 14.7 million units so far this year, doubling the total of 2005. Digital single sales also continued to increase, rising 77 percent to 281 million units. Unfortunately CD sales dropped 4.2 percent during the first two quarters, landing at 270.6 million units, according to figures released by Nielsen Soundscan.
