So someone decided to dedicate September 9th (9/09) as 909 Day, a reference to the venerable Roland TR-909, who has influenced everyone from Orbital, Moby, Chemical Brothers, Phil Collins, Urban Rhythm, Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim and many, many others.
We’re not exactly sure how you should celebrate 909 Day…make a track using your 909, or 909 samples or TR-8, listen to a track with a 909, or just thank Roland for making this renowned drum machine, which was one of the first electronic instruments to feature MIDI when it debuted in 1984. Either way you want to go about it is fine with us. Cheers!
