Weekend Fun: Underwater Bathroom
Only in Japan would a concern spend over a quarter of a million dollars to put a bathroom inside a fish tank. No. We’re not kidding you. This Ladies Room, surrounded on all sides by an enormous fish tank, is located at the Mumin Papa Cafe in the city of Akashi.
The underwater restroom is built into the side of a giant aquarium filled with exotic fish, and a sea turtle that is a bit of a voyeur according to patrons who frequent the establishment. Why an underwater ladies room? The owner reveals that the ¥30,000,000 sub-aquatic restroom was constructed “to recreate the pleasant sensation of relieving yourself while swimming in the ocean.” This guy probably doesn’t get many invites to pool parties…
