Garmin Introduces Mobile XT – GPS SD Card For Cell Phones
Garmin has introduced a very sexy new product just in time for the holidaze. The Garmin Mobile XT is GPS software embedded onto a microSD card that utilizes the built in GPS functionality of most smart phones to deliver location-based services including maps, driving directions, real-time traffic and weather information.
Garmin’s Mobile XT comes pre-loaded with either maps of the US, Canada and Puerto Rico or Europe provided by Navteq, which was recently purchased by Nokia for $8.1 billion.
One of the cooler functions of Mobile XT are the friend-finding tools that are incorporated into the software. The software has the ability to locate other XT users, and have those users locate you based on perferences set in the phone’s address book. Social Networking 3.0!
