Just when Teenage Engineering was getting off the mat due the knockout blow that Akai inflicted on their K.O. range, the venerable Japanese manufacturer has reloaded and now is taking aim at their overprice Pocket lineup. “We never understood why the products from those silly Swedes have gained such attention in the market, so we decided to dumb down the Akai lineup to the point that even the most mentally challenged will find the Mono to be a compelling alternative,” states Akai’s Balsaki Mushitushi.

Akai’s new Mono is looking to put the final nail in the coffin in the favorite coffee shop noisemakers of hipsters everywhere…

Like it’s bigger sister, the Mono is a battery-powered device designed for ages 8 and younger. Inspired by classic MPC systems like the MPC60, MPC Sample allows producers just shedding their diapers to sample, chop, and build beats anywhere. Even in the crib!
