ESI XJAM Micro Drum Pad MIDI Controller

ESI recently released the XJAM, a micro Drum Pad MIDI Controller. There’s not a ton of material on the XJAM, but this is what we can tell you. The drum pad controller is micro-sized, and bus-powered, making it super portable. The XJAM is housed in a very solid aluminum chassis, so while the size may say “toy” – it’s actually a robust enclosure that looks like it can take a hit or two at a live gig. The plug ‘n’ play unit features a 4×4 pad matrix, and six endless encoders. In addition, the XJAM offers 48 scenes to save layouts.

The XJAM’s RGB, velocity and pressure-sensitive pads provide polyphonic aftertouch and send MIDI CC, MIDI Program Change or MMC messages. There are also six endless encoders on board, which can be used in a variety of ways. In addition to controlling MIDI CC messages, the encoders can be assigned to send pitch, MIDI program change messages or even aftertouch messages. There is also a TRS-MIDI Out socket to send signals to external sound generators. Finally, the XJAM comes with editor software to tweak all the parameters and archive settings.

The ESI XJAM costs $125 and is available now.
