Audiowood, run by Joel Scilley, has been making turntables and stereo gear out of glorious, not to mention sustainably produced, wood for the past six years. Some of the decks are vintage wood designs, and some are quite modern, such as the Bachelor Turntable, which Captain Kirk finds so endearing in Paramount Pictures’ Star Trek: Into Darkness.

In addition to making audio gear, Audiowood is also a retailer for some other brands of quality European and US-made audio gear, including Rega, Music Hall Turntables, Grado, Bellari, High Resolution Technologies, Red Dragon Audio, and SME S2 Tonearms. Audiowood also has a new retail store in New Orleans dubbed, Audiowood: Analog Living, where they sell stereo goods, fine art and select LPs. They are also known to dabble in other wood ventures, like iPhone docks, AV furniture, and sometimes lamps and clocks.

The deck you see above is called the Barky, a limited-production turntable made with a solid ash round, quality Rega parts kit, 24 Volt Power Supply, heavy glass platter and a Rega RB303 tonearm. It includes a pre-mounted Rega Elys2 Cartridge, adjustable solid brass spike legs, and is finished with hand-rubbed polyurethane and paste wax. It is available in either 115V or 230V versions (please specify when ordering). Barky is also compatible with the Rega TTPSU external power supply which is available as an extra, and which allows for push-button speed changes.

Audiowood’s Barky costs $1750 and is available now.
