Universal To Join iTunes Plus DRM-Free Party?
Universal is currently in negotiations with Apple about participating, on a limited scale, in their iTunes Plus service that sells DRM-free, higher-fidelity songs, albeit with the buyer’s identification watermarked into each individual track purchased. Apple’s iTunes Plus only features music from EMI.
It’s being reported that a number of sticky issues remain to an official announcement including the well-worn variable pricing, watermarking technology, and file formats.
