Eowave Releases Ribbon – Mini Synth, USB & CV/Gate Controller
Eowave has released Ribbon, a mini synth, USB and CV/gate controller designed for live applications. The materials in their press release and website come up wanting, but this appears to a controller with a built in synth engine. It can be used as a standalone instrument or to control virtual instruments, iOS devices and modular systems, as well as CV/gate devices.
Ribbon contains a sound engine, we’re guessing virtual analog, with one oscillator. The sound is triggered by the position on the four octave ribbon and is pressure sensitive for volume control. Ribbon can be placed on a table, on a keyboard or can be held like a cello neck or a guitar neck. With a transparent Plexiglas enclosure illuminated with a LED, the Ribbon can also be used as a USB controller. It is compatible with any MIDI software. No MIDI interface is needed. It also claims to be fully compatible with the iPad and iPhone. Ribbon has an audio out. It can be turned into a CV/gate controller with an audio cable. Ribbon can control a modular synthesizer directly. The video showcases the Ribbon’s capabilities…
