Authentek

Moving on beyond layered sound. Recognizing the true real. Living on all levels of decibels. Sonic rebels.

The Authentek story begins in a section of New York City known as Hell’s Kitchen during the dog days of summer 2001. D-Ray, an electronic musician with a knack for inventing his own instruments, had been squatting in an old warehouse for almost a year composing his unique brand of acid-laced, Drum ‘n’ Bass. The warehouse was in foreclosure and not having to pay for rent or utilities afforded him the opportunity to self-mutate from his Illbient roots. D-Ray had been at the forefront of the Illbient movement, which, at the time, was a fresh perspective on electronic music where musicians were free to explore the fringes of sound and regurgitate it in an electronic landscape. Its events, with names like Unity Gain and DecayNY, pushed the boundaries of truly live electronic performance and featured broken beats, mutilated sound and disturbed visuals…

Urban Rhythm

Always Forward, Never Straight…

Urban Rhythm has been a fixture of New York City’s electronic music scene since the mid-nineties with his driving brand of Drum ‘n’ Bass – or what he likes to call Acid ‘n’ Bass with his greasy TB-303 pulsating in every track. By combining his African hand drumming roots with his own musical instrument inventions, Urban Rhythm has been able to break from the typical electronic music four on the floor stereotype to create truly innovative beats. Urban Rhythm’s “Acid’n’Bass” stomper, Max A/C, was awarded First Place in the Roland Songwriting Contest.

Urban Rhythm’s musical diversity enables him to transgress styles from Drum’n’Bass to Deep Tech House to Tribal House, making him hard to pin down in this genre-specific industry. From his The Theme From The X-Files remixes for Elektra to the banging Manhunt, its obvious that Urban Rhythm thrives on challenging himself. Check out Urban’s meditative release, “En-Trance” on all digital platforms and vinyl.

Urban Rhythm’s has just debuted a new release, “Backstory” — it is now available on all streaming platforms. It features seven Drum ‘n’ Bass, Acid ‘n’ Bass and Illbient tracks that were released from 1999-2006 on 12″ vinyl, including a few gems that were performed at underground events in New York City from that time, but never released.

Droids On Acid

New ground, harkening the magnetic sound of the underground. Sonic reverberations echo transmutations…

Droids On Acid is an Acid Techno artist based in New York. He creates his music, which he describes as “unintended consequences,” in a specialized studio that has been designed by the ground up to make cutting-edge acid tracks.

His music ranges from deep ambient soundscapes and Dub Techno with heavy bass lines and 1970’s Dub elements to full Acid Techno bangers. His downtempo music is focused primarily on setting a particular mood, often melancholy, using layered sounds and slow-paced, breakbeats, while his Acid Techno tracks are full tweak ahead.

Droids On Acid’s first full-length album on FutureMusic will be released in 2024 with a tour to follow. He recently remixed “Choose Love” for the Bikiniwax label based out of Los Angeles, California. You can watch it on YouTube or stream it on Spotify.

Droids On Acid posts sonic experiments on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram.
