Oxi Instruments Premier E16 MIDI Controller

Oxi Instruments has announced the ridiculously expensive E16 MIDI Controller. Considering there as so many other choices that cost a fraction of the price, it’s hard to comprehend why musicians would throw away their hard-earned dollars on 16 knob rotary MIDI controller, but maybe there’s a bling factor that makes this appealing.

The E16 MIDI Controller features LED rings, an OLED screen and an aluminum unibody build. Designed for creators who have a trust fund, demand visual clarity and hands-on control, whether in the studio or on stage.

The OXI App claims to bring configuration, backup and sharing to your setup. Apparently, you can create, organize and prepare your scenes and pages with less mapping time. An app is nice, but you can own two MIDI Fighter Twisters for the same price as one E16.

Oxi > Your Money

If the $499.99 didn’t buckle your knees enough, UK and USA customers can add at least £45 to the price. Two versions are available for preorder: E16 (Non Detented Standard Edition) Encoders with no clicks or steps when turning. This is the official/main version of the E16. E16 Detented (Limited Edition) Clicky encoders that give a tactile “click” with every step when you turn them.
