Roland has debuted the Mood Pan, an electronic handpan that encourages Lululemon-wearing housewives anyone “to discover the restorative power of music.” Before we all start holding hands and singing Kumbaya, we can tell you that there is a segment of the market that is definitely looking for an easy-to-play instrument like the Mood Pan. And while the Mood Pan is not the first electronic Handpan, it positions itself adroitly between amateurs and enthusiasts who are not looking to spend $3000.
Mood Pan features tranquil tones and a simple design that they claim does not require previous musical skills, although a sense of rhythm is definitely encouraged, at least for you neighbor’s sake.
