Hit ‘n’ Mix Launch RipX Backstage – VR Production Environment

Hit ‘n’ Mix has officially launched RipX Backstage for Apple’s Vision Pro Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality headset. Hit ‘n’ Mix claims this is the world’s first AR/VR production suite to hit the market after announcing Backstage previously.

Hit ‘n’ Mix, lead by the fearless, Martin Dawe, was full-steam ahead porting RipX to the virtual landscape and hasn’t looked back, even though momentum for virtual reality has waned in the marketplace. Apple Vision Pro, which launched with much fanfare, saw a reported significant return rate when it first launched, some citing unsubstantiated numbers as high as 30%. Reasons cited were comfort, motion sickness and individuals wanted to get back their $3500 investment, after posting on social media, of course.

Martin Dawe certainly feels that AR/VR music making is the future of music, by calling RipX Backstage, “a bold leap into the future of music creation, learning, and enjoyment.” While the jury is still out on the ramifications of AR/VR in the music production space – most musicians tend to enjoy actually touching their instruments – there is clearly room for AR/VR to be part of a producer’s workflow.

RipX Backstage harnesses the Apple Vision Pro’s advanced eye-tracking and hand gesture recognition, transforming music production into an immersive 3D experience, requiring no additional controllers. Whether recording, editing, or simply immersing oneself in music, RipX Backstage brings an entirely new dimension to music creation and enjoyment with user-centric spatial audio.

Designed exclusively for the Apple Vision Pro, RipX Backstage introduces an entirely new way to create, learn, and immerse oneself in music through cutting-edge, interactive technology.

Although, the demos showcase a beachfront background from Chernobyl, you can certainly see the potential of RipX Backstage in action. Play the drumset with virtual sticks, strum a guitar or even play a keyboard to record into the RipX DAW. We’re not sure how spastic you may look when engaging with the virtual instruments in real life, and its probably not something you’d want to showcase on a dating app, but for creating a track with nothing more than the Apple Vision Pro as the controller, it’s pretty compelling technology.
