This instrument was designed to meet the needs of composers and musicians who desire to have the talent of Guo inside their computer. The Tina Guo – Storm Cello brings the distinct sound of her electric cello, offering an authentic representation of her performances, which have graced some of the most iconic film, TV, and game scores.

Tina Guo is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished cellists of her generation, known for her powerful and emotive playing. With a career spanning both classical and contemporary music, she has worked on a vast array of projects across various genres. Guo has contributed to high-profile soundtracks such as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (2023), Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (2024), Dune: Part One (2021), Gran Turismo (2023), and Top Gun: Maverick (2022). Her collaborations with renowned composer Hans Zimmer include her co-composition of the Wonder Woman Main Theme. A Grammy and Brit Award nominee, Tina Guo has built a reputation as a go-to cellist in the film industry and an entrepreneur.

“Our collaboration with Tina Guo and Steve Mazarro aims to provide composers with a truly exceptional, versatile tool that captures the unique qualities of Tina’s performances,” states Christian Henson, founder of The Crow Hill Company. “We are grateful to Hans Zimmer for bringing the team together and making this project possible.”

Christian Henson, founder of Crow Hill, based in Edinburgh, UK, was connected Tina Guo via Hans Zimmer, a long-time collaborator. The instrument was first brought to life in its earliest state as a private collection for producer Steve Mazzaro’s use in scoring for cinema. Steve and Tina frequently bring their shared brilliance to projects, according to Crow Hills’ Cam Minuti-Goold, and in this case, decided to later share these amazing sounds and techniques with the composing world.

Steve Mazarro, the co-producer and composer behind the Tina Guo – Storm Cello sample instrument, brings a wealth of experience and technical expertise to the project. Mazarro has worked across a range of genres, composing music for film, TV, and game soundtracks. With his deep understanding of both music composition and sound design, Mazarro was instrumental in capturing Tina Guo’s signature sound and translating it into a versatile sample library.

Heritage Audio i73 Pro 2 Audio Interface Review

Heritage Audio released their i73 Pro 2 computer audio interface a few months back and we subjected it to a long-term test with six reviewers to provide a balanced, objective and wide-ranging evaluation. The USB-C Two-In / Four-Out audio interface has two built-in Class A transformer-coupled 1073-style preamps and attempts to bridge the gap between vintage and modern in one compact, desktop unit. The Neve-flavored knobs, green stone covered transformers, dank blue, powder-coated chassis and wood side panels provide just enough vintage vibe to be convincing, but does the i73 Pro 2 actually deliver on the sound? Find out!

Tina Guo Storm Cello Sample Instrument Interface

The Tina Guo – Storm Cello combines traditional electric cello samples with custom processing to capture the unique tonal qualities of Guo’s playing. The instrument offers various articulations, from traditional long and short bows to unique techniques that reflect Guo’s signature sound. These performances were captured and processed using Guo’s personal pedalboard and a range of vintage and digital outboard gear, allowing users to access a broad range of sonic possibilities.

“Our biggest takeaway from collaborating with Tina,” according to Cam Minuti-Goold, “other than being a pure joy to work with, is that it is possible to impart a hint of the essence of someone’s creativity into a sound. Whether that’s music, or in this case, software. And while nothing will ever compete with being able to work with Tina live on a project, having even a hint of her passion and creative style at your fingertips is extremely inspiring, not to mention a hell of a lot of fun.”

The instrument also includes an extensive FX rack, featuring a granular re-synthesizer (Grains), a gate step sequencer (Gate Stepper), and a Master bus with a function to duplicate the performance for added width and size.

The Crow Hill Company’s Tina Guo Storm Cello costs £179, but is on an Introductory Special for £129 for a limited time.
