TASCAM has announced the Model 2400, a new studio and live recording and mixing console with a built-in Audio Interface. Expanding on the features found in the Model 12, Model 16 and Model 24 mixers, the new flagship Model 2400 provides an integrated 24-track digital recorder, a 22-channel mixer, and a 24 In / 22 Out USB audio interface.
Its 24-track digital recorder can capture the recording and mixdown of live performances to an SD, SDHC, or SDXC card without the need for a PC or other DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), making the Model 2400 a self-contained workstation. With its integrated USB audio interface, the Model 2400 facilitates linked operation with DAW transport control for extensive editing and quality production. TASCAM claims the Model 2400 is easy to use, with a bus configuration that provides operability characteristic of an analog mixer, with a design that facilitates compatibility and expandability with other studio peripherals via its MIDI interface.

The Model 2400 offers 16 TASCAM Ultra HDDA XLR mic preamplifiers, 12 channel inserts, 5 Aux sends, and 4 stereo sub groups. This workstation’s MIDI In /Out ports include support for MIDI Time Code (MTC) and MIDI Clock/Song Position Pointer (SPP) Out. There is also a Click Out jack with a TAP Tempo function. For those interested in integrating a DAW into the production environment, The Model 2400 provides DAW transport control and Record Ready functionality via HUI/MCU (Human User Interface / Mackie Control Universal) protocol emulation. Further, the Model 2400 contains expanded Insert capability for channels 1 – 12 and Main bus for the integration of EQ or Compression and there is Digital EQ and Compression on the Main buss.

TASCAM’s Model 2400 features a Master EQ/COMP with 4-band parametric EQ, a stereo bus compressor, MIDI I/O Sync, plus transport and Record control capability for DAW control. Plus, one can easily playback and route audio from Bluetooth enabled devices to channels 21/22, mains, or off. With the Model Mixer Settings Panel app that can be downloaded for free from the TASCAM website, users can take advantage of a digital meter bridge across all 24 channels by connecting the Model 2400 via USB to a PC or Mac. Set peak hold times and monitor the input, MTR, or USB signal all while being able scale the GUI within its own window or expand it to full screen. Additionally, users can take it a step further by porting visual information such as the meter bridge from one’s computer to a dedicated monitor of their choosing.
