Pioneer Announces DJM-V10-LF 6-Channel DJ Mixer

Pioneer has announced the DJM-V10-LF six-channel professional DJ mixer. The DJM-V10-LF features new, longer channel faders with optimized curves and a new custom-designed curve preset. The new offering also enables Pioneer to compete more directly with some of the boutique, high-end DJ mixers from Play and MasterSounds. All the other features and specifications of the DJM-V10-LF are the same as the DJM-V10, which was released in early 2020.

Although the price point of the DJM-V10-LF puts it into a whole different category, the feature set of this truly pro offering also sets it apart. FutureMusic hasn’t had the opportunity to review this mixer yet, but Pioneer has a stellar track record of providing everything a DJ could desire and then some…

Pioneer DJM-V10-LF Features:

60 mm Shaft Slide Faders

The DJM-V10-LF’s new 60 mm shaft slide faders enable you to control the volume of the audio source from each channel with even more precision. In addition, a brand-new fader curve setting has been added to the unit and the faders have been appropriately weighted to enhance the potential offered by their elongated range. To gain the extra length and keep the same chassis footprint of the DJM-V10, the the crossfader has been removed and 60 mm shaft slide faders have replaced the 45 mm ones on the channels.

What this also does is open up the DJM-V10 concept to the electronic musician live-performance crowd, a savvy move by Pioneer, as more EDM artists are now live-streaming original music on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Discord and other avenues.

Unique Fader Curve

The unit includes two classic fader curves from its predecessor – optimized to make the most of the extra length – plus an all-new curve preset that enables you to make fine adjustments to the volume of each channel and precisely control the output sound.

Pioneer Sound Quality

Pioneer want you to “feel the warmth of natural sound and hear every detail,” so they employ 64-bit mixing and dithering processing, 32-bit A/D and D/A converters, a low-jitter clock circuit to produce what they claim is “a full low-end, vibrant mids, and precise highs” sonic signature.

ESS Technology 32-bit D/A Converter

A 32-bit SABRE 8-channel DAC (ESS Technology’s ES9016S) is used for both the master and booth outputs. The DAC output is driven in parallel to further improve S/N. To maximize the DAC’s capability, Pioneer honed the output circuit by improving operation amps and capacitors and performing optimal tuning.

Asahi Kasei Electronics 32-bit A/D Converter

The analog channel inputs use a 32-bit premium ADC by Asahi Kasei Electronics. By redesigning the input differential conversion circuit and optimizing the audio parts used, Pioneer asserts a rich, high-definition and low-distortion sound.

EM Device Mechanical Relays

The line/phono input switch, master output, and headphones output circuit use mechanical EA2 relays from EM Devices Co. They eliminate signal distortion due to the use of non-linear electrical components, completely cancelling unpleasant noise in the mute circuit. This is not only important for DJ’s looking to get the most out of the RCA connections, but also to electronic music live performers who will be using 1/4″ to RCA connections for their synthesizers, drum machines, samplers and Eurorack components.

Pioneer DJM-V10-LF DJ Mixer Digital Connections

AES/EBU Output

The master outputs feature a noise-resistant balanced transmission system and a professional digital audio-standard AES/EBU terminal that’s applicable for long-distance transmission in large venues, clubs and outdoor stages.

6 Channels

Having six dedicated analog input terminals that line up with each channel on the top panel, provide a lot of flexibility to add your bits of kit.

USB/MIDI Terminal

With a 96 kHz/24-bit sound card, you can input and output up to six stereo channels without any deterioration of sound quality when connected to a PC or Mac. The input and output of the send and master signals, as well as the input and output of individual channels, can be routed via USB to your computer. The additional benefit is smooth DJ handovers by simultaneously connecting two laptops (PC/Mac) to the mixer at once.

Multi I/O Terminal

A USB A terminal and a 1/4-inch TS jack are mounted on the top and the rear of the mixer. You can arrange your sounds using the RMX-1000 app for iPad or another FX app, or record your mix directly to the DJM-REC app without any deterioration in sound quality. You can also route insert-type hardware effect units, such as the RMX-1000, through the 1/4-inch TS jack connection.

DIN MIDI Output

Sync external production gear using the BPM from rekordbox and the quantized BPM information is shared via Pro DJ Link when connected to a LAN hub. When not using PRO DJ Link, the DJM-V10-LF’s BEAT FX suite will analyze and display a track’s BPM.

Send Section Options

The expanded send/return section enables you to add external FX, or even combine them with built-in FX. Send audio to one of four built-in FX and up to two pieces of external equipment to create unique sounds and even live remixes. You can connect guitar pedals, FX units, and more to the TS jack send/return terminals.

Filter

Drastically change the sound of a track, or subtly tweak it, using the newly developed filter with resonance control. Switch on high or low pass by pressing either button, then turn the knob from all the way to the left (no filter applied) to the furthest position on the right (maximum filter applied). Because high and low pass are separated you have twice the resolution to play with compared to the filter on the DJM-900NXS2, allowing for more pronounced adjustments.

Beat FX

Control the X-Pad via the touch display for more intuitive effects manipulation and bring harmony to sound sources such as vocals and synthesizers to create unique sounds. You can directly select the channel you want to add the effect to with the BEAT FX Assign button on each channel. Pioneer also added Shimmer; a new sonic-enhancer that adds brightness to the original audio.

3-Band Master Isolator

Control the tone of your entire mix with the three-band master isolator, featuring new boost/cut curves and adjustments to the crossover frequencies and other parameters.

Dual Headphones Output & Booth EQ

The DJM-V10-LF makes back-to-back monitoring simple and comfortable. You can tweak the sound in the DJ booth just the way you like.

DJM-REC Compatible

Record and archive your mixes via iPhone or iPad, upload your sounds to cloud services or live-stream your sessions.

Four Band EQ With Compression

The DJM-V10-LF features four band EQ with built in compression. EQ Range: [Hi/Low] -Infinity ~ +6 dB / [Hi Mid/Low Mid] -26 dB ~ +6 dB dB

Pioneer’s new DJM-V10-LF costs $3,999.
