Akai Announces MPC One

Not sure why there’s just not information from Akai about their new Akai One standalone beatmaker, but this is what we can tell you. The MPC One contains the same multicore processing system from the MPC X, but in a smaller footprint and at a very friendly, entry-level price.

As mentioned above, the MPC One contains much of the same internals of the MPC Live and MPC X, including the 16 velocity and pressure-sensitive square pads, a multitouch display, network connectivity, MIDI input and output. Obviously feeling the pressure from a customer-base that’s not as enthralled with the MPC legend, as previous generations, Akai has decided to offer the One at about 700 beans, a significant reduction from the Live about a grand and the X, which is close to $2000. In order to get the price down and to avoid a pissed off base who went all-in on the Live and X, Akai has also trimmed some features. The MPC One does not contain a rechargeable battery, eliminating the portability. It also reduces the ports and internal storage.
