Elektron Premiers Model:Samples

Elektron has premiered Model:Samples, a six-track, sample-based ‘groovebox’ featuring 300 built-in sounds from Splice. The Swedish concern is not known for usability, but Elektron appears to be making a concerted effort to make the Model:Samples more accessible, not only in terms of programming, but also its price point, which is the lowest we’ve seen from the company aside from their guitar pedal and t-shirts.

Model:Samples’ sound engine employs digital samples ranging from kicks, snares, and hi-hats to more esoteric alternatives. There is 64 MB sample memory / 1 GB storage of space for your own sounds and plenty of ways to tweak it with a complete set of tactile controls, with one function per knob, and six velocity-sensitive pads. Record your every move live, or punch in your creation one step at a time using the onboard sequencer.

Elektron Model:Samples Features:

» Load six samples at once
» Write basslines and melodies using Chromatic Mode
» New Chance parameter.
» Record sequences with or without quantization. Steps can be micro-timed with individual Swing control per track
» Individual Step Length per track
» Individual Tempo Multiplier per track
» Class compliant USB audio 2.0
» Control All lets you twist your sounds to oblivion. Then use Reload to take you back to where you started
» Use Parameter Locks to automate parameters. Each step can have a totally different sound
