Twitch has announced a partnership with the Ultra Music Festival to stream three days of this year’s electronic music event. Twitch, a live-streaming service, has been actively courting EDM artists to the service. In January, Twitch launched the Twitch Music Library in partnership with several EDM labels, giving exposure to musicians who are willing to distribute their tracks for free to “streamers” looking to add some production value to their videos. The live stream will be sponsored by 7UP, and is scheduled for March 27-29 during Miami Music Week.
Purchased by Amazon last summer, Twitch is social video for gamers where more than 55 million gather every month to broadcast, watch and talk about video games. Founded in June 2011, Twitch’s video platform is the backbone of both live and on-demand distribution for the entire video game vertical, including game developers, publishers, media outlets, events, user generated content, and the entire esports scene. In February 2014, Wall Street Journal ranked Twitch as the 4th largest website in terms of peak internet traffic in the U.S. fortifying the brand as an entertainment industry leader and the epicenter of social video for gamers.
PS. Current Twitch Users: You’ll have to change your password when you log into the service next due to a security breach. Fun!
