The Sound Taxi
AIAIAI, the headphone manufacturer, has unleashed the Sound Taxi, a London black that records ambient city sound with a roof-mounted mic and turns it into “music.”
The mobile sound taxi was a collaboration between AIAIAI, sound designer Yuri Suzuki, and Mark McKeague who provided the programming to turn city noise into tracks. This experiments in sound was created by AIAIAI under the moniker: MAKE THE CITY SOUND BETTER to pimp their latest headphone-release, the Capital, which we designed for the on-the-go urbanite.
The Sound Taxi contains 67 speakers built into the entire car body and large “Indian horns” mounted on top of the taxi’s roof. You can hear the Sound Taxi’s compositions by visiting the link below.
