Music Basel Releases Note For Max
The University of Music Basel, developed by Thomas Resch and spearheaded by project-coordinator Holger Stenschke, has released Note~ For Max, the culmination of a two-year research project.
The basic concept of note~ for Max is that of a classic MIDI sequencer: recording, editing and playing back control data. Its most obvious advantage over similar well known sequencer applications is its seamless integration into the Max programming environment as a native external object. Note~ provides a GUI for editing/copying/pasting events, a score interface, a scripting interface, import/export and feedback for every interaction and therefore its functionality can be extended by common Max/MSP objects. note~ for Max works closely together with note.eventeditor, note.score and note.time objects
What you can do with the note~ for Max beta:
» make use of multitrack sequencing with up to 64 tracks
» place events and regions in time with a resolution of 32 bit floating point precision
» tune events with microtonal pitch resolution in 32 bit floating point precision
» organize events in up to 260 event types per region
» choose from 3 different event type modes: piano roll view, chart view and filled chart view
» add up to 1020 optional parameters to events, additionally to their timestamp, pitch, duration and velocity
» add text to events
» build your own unique composition tool by customizing note~ with its attributes and scripting it with messages
» render and display a traditional score using the note.score object
» import and export MIDI files while preserving microtonal pitch information
