US District Judge Dismisses Record Label Price Fixing Charges
US District Judge Loretta A. Preska for the Southern District of New York has dismissed charges brought by a consumer group that alleged major labels conspired on digital music pricing levels.
The recently unsealed decision revealed that Preska strongly dismissed the allegations that Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, EMI Music, and Warner Music Group used joint ventures and third-party agreements to fix prices on digital downloads, as well as the price of CDs.
