I-Doser Claims To Get You High With Binaural Sound Technology

This “technology” is apparently nothing new, but a new company with a pretty dodgy website is claiming that their PC application can give you a lift. I-Doser offers downloadable binaural brainwave doses that they claim evoke certain moods.

We don’t really buy it, especially since the whole purchase scheme is more like corner Crack dealer, than an real, authentic company. However, we started digging a little deeper into the technology that I-Doser is based on, and found that the concept behind the technology is based on a theory called binaural beat synchronization. Here’s how one researcher describes it:

The theory behind binaural beats is that if you apply slightly different frequency sine waves to each ear, a beating affect is created in the brain itself, due to the brain’s internal wiring. If, in the presence of these tones, you relax and let your mind go, your mind will naturally synchronize with the beat frequency. In this way it is possible to tune the frequency of your brain waves to particular frequencies that you have selected, using of the four bands: Delta: deep sleep, Theta: dreaming and intuitive stuff, Alpha: awake, focussed inside, and Beta: awake, focussed outside.

The concept is compelling. Several different organizations are researching and implementing the theory in their own distinct way. The CenterPointe Research Institute takes a hefty helping of Dr. Wayne Dyer mixes it with binaural beats and cooks up a CD collection that claims to aid in the listener’s “personal growth.” The Monroe Institute labels the theory Hemi-Sync and states that their process “has been refined with over 40 years of research and development. Ongoing experimentation, data collection and analysis are conducted at The Monroe Institute’s laboratory facilities to demonstrate the correlations between subjective experiential reports and objective electronic measurements.”

However it’s being packaged, the idea is fascinating, and we’re currently researching the theory for a full article. Stay Tuned…
