Apple Patent Suggests Illuminated iPod Touch Pads Coming In Next-Gen Models

The US Patent and Trademark Office recently published a new Apple patent application that hints at the future of next generation iPod touch pad controls. From the application, it appears that the company is exploring illuminated touch pads that may not only light up, but also track finger motion.

Patent application 20080018617, titled “Illuminated touch pad,” describes an “illuminated input device” comprised of “an object sensing mechanism capable of sensing a user input over an input surface; and a visual feedback system configured to illuminate the input surface in association with a user input.”
