Stephen Marley has finally come out of the shadows of his famous father and charismatic older brother Ziggy to deliver an intimate,
yet widely accessible solo effort Mind Control on the Tuff Gong imprint. Combining Dance Hall, Reggae, and his own electronic
take on hip-hop, Marley points his listeners to the future, without forgetting his past. From the instantly catcy Traffic Jam featuring his
half-brother Damian (Jr. Gong), to the delicate Lonely Avenue in which you'll need a voiceprint to differentiate him from his father's trippy best,
Stephen Marley is a force to be reckoned with. This could be the best Marley offspring album to date. Buy it now!

Gabriel Ananda is set to release his full-length, Bambusbeats on March 19th. The new release has a mature sound, but falls away from his well-known melodic style to venture into new territories. To celebrate the release his label is graciously giving away one of the album's best cuts, Lamakov as a free download. This artistic minimal journey builds to a nice crescendo before melting in your mouth and then your pants...

../ The 2007 MusikMesse Gear Report
Everything You Need to Know In One Place
Ecler Evo5, JazzMutant Dexter, Allen & Heath Xone:1D, Nord Wave
MusikMesse, held in Frankfurt, Germany, is Europe's equivalent of the NAMM show,
and an amazing showcase of new music gear from all over the world. Just like with NAMM a couple of months ago, there was a ton of new Production
and DJ gear that will influence the market in the coming year. Here's a rundown of what you need to know:
Ecler
has officially announced their new Evo5 mixer, and this could truly be the mixer that every analog/digital DJ has been waiting for...it may even
eclipse the stellar Allen & Heath Xone:3D since it will probably be half the price.
The Ecler Evo5 DJ Mixer and MIDI Controller
Designed by Giugiaro Italdesign, who had done work for
Apple, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, BMW and many other design-forward brands, the gorgeous mixer features a black aluminium faceplate with a
silver accent to highlight the innovative 3.5" color screen...

Allen & Heath
have completed the Xone Family with the release of the Baby Bear Xone:1D, a dedicated MIDI controller connected and powered via USB, which can be
used to control leading DJ software such as Ableton Live and Traktor3. The 1D complements the Papa Bear Xone:3D mixer/controller and the Mama Bear
Xone:2D controller with an integrated soundcard.
The Allen & Heath completes the Xone MIDI lineup with the Xone:1D
As well as the USB connection, the Xone:1D has 5-pin DIN MIDI sockets for connection to other MIDI-enabled devices, and features five 60mm linear faders,
eight detented rotary pots, 19 push buttons - four of which are illuminated, five rotary encoders with "push to switch" function, and a multi-function
jog wheel with switched navigation control...

Korg
has introduced two new DJ mixers with a built-in Kaoss Pad, the KM-402 and KM-202 Kaoss Mixers. The duo merges the effects and tactile interface of
the Kaoss Pad, six different types of EQ, and an adjustable cross-fader curve to deliver a dynamic new option for DJs.
Korg Continues To Wake From Their Hibernation With Kaoss Infused DJ Mixers
The two-channel KM-202 and four-channel KM-402 combine the Kaoss Pad's effects and interface with a 24-bit digital DJ mixer complete with adjustable
crossfader. Their streamlined design and integrated Kaoss Pad sets a new standard for a Korg integrated mixer/effects processor. With one hundred effect
programs, a Program Memory key for quick save and instant recall of your favorite programs, an FX Releae function that keeps delay and reverb tails intact
through preset changes, and a Kaoss button for assigning the Kaoss Pad to each channel...

Clavia
showcased the only working prototype of the Nord Wave. The Nord Wave represents the next generation of Nord Lead synthesizers giving the user access to
not only virtual analog sounds, but using also FM, wavetable and complete user replaceable samples as an oscillator source. All in a well-known and easy
to use analog synthesizer environment with effects like tube-style overdrive thrown in as well. It is not another sample player, but a fully interactive
synthesizer that supports sampled waveforms.
The Nord Wave packs Virtual analog, FM, Wavetable & samples as an oscillator source
The Nord Wave is a small, light-weighted instrument in the same Nord chassis and will replace the Nord Lead 3 in Clavia's lineup...

JazzMutant
displayed their new Dexter touchscreen Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) controller at MusikMesse 2007 igniting the imaginations of musicians worldwide. Not that
their previous product, the Lemur, didn't spark quite a few discussions, but the multitouch Dexter, which is DAW specific, has inched the industry closer to
the future of music production.
Is this the future of the Digital Audio Workstation?
Dexter redefines the very interaction between Digital Audio Workstations and the users. This tablet-sized control surface has been designed with only
one purpose in mind: controlling a Digital Audio Workstation by touching a user interface directly on the screen...
