A new electronic music DJ and production school has emerged from the ashes of Dubspot, which imploded when owner, Dan Giove, suddenly shuddered the school and left many students who had paid in advance for their classes holding the proverbial bag. The new entity, called, 343 Labs, is located in the Chinatown area of New York City and has a very compelling offer for former Dubspot students who got hosed.
343 Labs was launched by former Max Wild and Nacho Isa and includes several former Dubspot instructors, including John Selway, Cândida Borges, Brent Arnold, Abe Duque and Adam Partridge. The school features classes in several of the leading electronic music production DAW’s including Ableton Live and Logic Pro, but is putting an emphasis on music theory, songwriting, as well as mixing and mastering. Wild and associates plan to add DJing and live electronic music performance to the curriculum sometime this year.
Now here’s where it gets amazing if you lost your money when Dubspot bit the dust. Students who submit proof of payment to cancelled Dubspot courses will receive free classes starting this month. Here’s what they say:
Dear Dubspot Community,
After the unfortunate turn of events at Dubspot last year, a core group of its former instructors formed a new electronic music collective in NYC, which is now 343 Labs. While Dubspot’s instructors had nothing to do with the shutdown, we realize that numerous students were not able to complete classes they had paid for and some were not issued refunds. We understand how expensive school is and how long it took some of you to save up to pay for tuition, so in an effort to repair some of this damage and in the spirit of rebuilding our community, we at 343 Labs are happy to announce that we will be offering any former Dubspot students affected by these events complimentary access to our classes. Fortunately, we have many of the same great teachers and classes to facilitate this.
