Sound Designer Peter Hylenski Part Of New Spider-Man Musical Creative Team

It’s no secret that the $65 million dollar Broadway musical, Spider-Man Turn On The Dark, has been a complete disaster. After months of one horrendous review after another, plus audience members feeling like they’ve been ripped off, Jeremiah Harris and Michael Cohl, the show’s producers, have temporarily halted the show’s performances.

The producers have announced that have hired a completely new creative team and booted director / writer Julie Taymor and choreographer Daniel Ezralow. Not escaping the finger-pointing, U2’s Bono and The Edge have also been asked to revamp the show’s music with musical consultant Paul Bogaev, and compose new music.

The new creative team consists of director Philip William McKinley, playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Paul Bogaev and sound designer Peter Hylenski. A new opening day was announced, June 14th with previews beginning on May 12.

Peter Hylenski’s credits include Shrek the Musical, Rock of Ages, Elf, Cry-Baby, The Scottsboro Boys, Lend Me a Tenor, The Times They Are A-Changin’, The Wedding Singer, Sweet Charity, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, Little Women, Brooklyn. He is also a producer and engineer for film, album and television projects. He holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University.
