Aurora DIY USB DJ MIDI Controller Debuts

Do you feel that the current crop of DJ MIDI Controllers on the market have come up wanting? Well a few lads got together to create the Aurora controller, a USB powered multichannel DJ mixer. The device features two linear channel faders, a single a/b crossfader and 24 backlit buttons for tweaking. What makes this mixer different is not just that you get to put it together yourself (WooHoo!), but it also has ambient lighting that spills out the bottom for disco action. The three man development team has decided to forgo the DIY moniker, in this age of the Internet, and instead call it “Open Source.”

Matt Aldrich designed the electronics, Mike Garbus designed the firmware and Maro McIacchitano designed the form factor for the Aurora. One thing is for sure when perusing the Aurora website, these guys hate capital letters. Hate!

You can download the schematics for the Aurora for free. And the lads may actually drink 5 pints or so and sell assembled Aurora’s in the future.
