DJ Raseri’s DIY Scratch MIDI Controller

DJ Raseri has patched together, literally, a Scratch MIDI Controller that appears to work awfully well in a YouTube video. According to Raseri, he set out to “build a MIDI controller that can be used by scratch DJs.”

Raseri felt the current crop of Jog Wheel controllers came up wanting in terms of sensitivity and scratching, and are often handicapped with crossfaders that are “usually of low quality and/or too stiff to allow quick cutting.” So like any other industrious youth, he decided to build his own with two main requirements: 1) A very high-resolution, accurate jog wheel, and 2) a smooth, reliable, high quality crossfader with curve control.
