XM Satellite, Sirius Post Subscriber Numbers
Sirius acquired 600,460 new subscribers during the second quarter, while XM accumulated 398,000 over the same period, showcasing strong Sirius momentum. Total subscriber numbers for the two services are now 4.67 million for Sirius, and 6.89 million for XM. Hugh Panero, XM CEO, blamed the company’s lower numbers to “overall softness in the retail channel.” However, Sirius, was not stricken with Mr. Softie and it’s total subscribers are up 158 percent compared to the second quarter of last year.
