FM Transmitters In Sirius Radios Probed By FCC

Sirius Satellite Radio is currently being investigated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), according to a recent SEC statement by manufacturing partner Directed Electronics. The filing suggests that the FCC is probing the FM transmitters in the Sirius S50 and the Starmate Replay. Directed Electronics revealed that they received a FCC letter, stating that “the transmitters are not in compliance” on those devices, and requested information related to the “certification, manufacturing, importation, and other matters relating to these radios.” In the disclosure, Directed Electronics asserted that it would acquiesce with the inquiry.

XM Satellite Radio recently received a similar probe, which focused on the FM transmitters found within the Delphi XM SKYFi2 and various other XM-compliant devices.
