../ 2005 NAMM Report: Wayoutware
Wayoutware introduced the Timewarp 2600 soft synth
at the show. The Timewarp is an ARP 2600 emulator that is endorsed by Alan R. Pearlman (ARP) himself. The Timewarp 2600 features
3 VCOs, a low pass resonant filter that supports variable length self oscillation, a ring modulator, a noise generator, two
envelope generators and a follower, and best of all, 8 note polyphony.
The Timewarp 2600 sounded impressive in the noisy hall, especially when used as an
effects processor for guitar riffs and drum loops. Virtual patch cords allowed all the
routing capabilities of the original. Several, but not all, of the waveforms and parameters can be
synced to MIDI clock. How does it stack up against Arturia's 2600? Only a Head2Head comparo will tell! Stay tuned.
