Microsoft Taps Fripp, and not Eno, for New Vista Sound Palette
Robert Fripp, formally of King Crimson, has been tapped to record
new sounds for Microsoft's next generation operating system dubbed "Vista." This is the first major update of the Windows operating system
(OS) in five years.
Microsoft recently posted a poorly shot and edited video on their
Channel 9 website of
the recording session. The ethereal and ambient sounds emerging from Fripp's guitar showcase a musical direction for the new
Vista sounds, but this video in no way reveals the final sounds that will be included when Vista is formally released sometime this year.
