Fabric 29 - Tiefschwarz
spotlight HEADROOM
Stuttgart-based, Tiefschwarz has delivered a mind-bending, wonderfully eclectic mix for Fabric Recordings. Most mix CD's today consist of a watered down version of a DJs true club set, however, Fabric 29 has a delicious spirit of adventure that is meant just as much for the mind as for the booty. Tiefschwarz's intellect runs rampant throughout the mix so you have to pay attention. But don't worry, it doesn't get too heady, to the brothers from Germany, it's really all about having fun. The Beat Poet throws down "The Fear" a hysterically funny, stream-of-conscious recap of a marijuana high gone terribly wrong. Da Poet's razor sharp lyrics keep you focused, but it's the Willy Wonka adventure that keeps you giggling and coming back for more. With tight production that not only supports the Beat Poet's content, but also comprehends who he is, you get a great track whose chorus could easily be the Ringtone of the Year! LISTEN!

../ New Faderfox Controllers Announced

Faderfox has announced the second generation of their handmade MIDI controllers for DJs and electronic musicians. Faderfox also revealed that the controllers, which have only been available in limited supply in Europe, now have a North American distributor. The ingenious, over-the-keyboard design remains, but the new units have been revamped to meet the ever-evolving needs of Ableton Live and Native Instruments Traktor users.

micromodul LV2

The new micromodul LV2 is a compact, custom-made controller for Ableton Live. Many different control attributes, including track faders, buttons, knobs and a versatile joystick, have been integrated into the LV2 - packing a lot of power in the pint sized package. You can use the two independent programmable button rows ( 2 x 6 buttons) to control various Ableton Live functions like scene launch, effects control, mute, solo, track control and slot launch. LEDs conveniently display which button functions are active. The four "endless" knobs are perfect for jump-free controlling of parameters. Important functions like track select, slot/scene-scroll and slot/scene-launch are quickly accessed by simply activating the function on the controller without having to fumble around with secondary menus. Users of Live 4.1 can utilize the setup files which are shipped with the controller - without having to endure the time consuming process of programming each separate control element.

The LV2 can also be used with other programs besides Ableton. With its compact architecture, it is well suited for software sequencers, even though you do not have the ability to program the LV2 or assign controller numbers or key numbers. The LV2 is very easy to transport, and does not require a power adaptor, since it works with standard or rechargeable batteries.

LV1 Features:

  • Two programmable button rows with 12 LEDs, 4 push-encoders, main function and better ergonomics
  • Setup files for Ableton Live 4.1
  • 6 track faders - switchable between 2 fader groups (1-6, 7-12)
  • 4 push-knobs for jump-free control of track-dependent and track-independent parameters (total of 144 parameters)

micromodul DJ2

The micromodul DJ2 is Faderfox's second generation DJ controller for computer-based mixing programs, however it is optimized for use with Native Instrument's popular Traktor DJ Studio. The DJ2 offers all the pertinent attributes for controlling two virtual decks, including faders, EQ, crossfaders and FX buttons. A joystick allows the DJ to control two different MIDI parameters simultaneously. Using the setup files, you can use the DJ2 right out of the box with Traktor 2.1 or later.

While the DJ2 offers all main functions, the DX2 extends the functionality with additional buttons for loop control, a full FX section (4 pots + 4 buttons) and 5 encoders for pitching/seek/scratch/list/load. Use two devices DJ2+DX2 if you want to play a four-deck-set with Traktor DJ Studio 3.0 by chaining the devices via MIDI.
