Rick Rubin has been reportedly shown the door at Columbia, one of the largest record labels. The eccentric Rubin, who often appears in shorts and barefooted no matter what the weather was considered too esoteric for the increasingly corporate culture at Columbia and was asked to depart.
Rick Rubin is a legend in the business, not only for his uncanny ability to “produce” hits, but also for his peculiar personality that often rubs suits the wrong way since they seemingly can’t get a straight answer to any inquiries. The change comes amid new Sony boss Doug Morris and an apparent poor relationship with Steve Barnett, Co-Chairman of the concern.
