Wok Unleashes Cromina String Machine Plug-In For Windows

Wok has released Cromina String Machine, a physically modeled emulator of the Solina, Crumar and Logan keyboards. These synths had a very particular string sound that Wok took a year to develop a plug-in to match their unique flavor.

Wok claims the soundwise peculiarities of the frequency divider circuit and the BBD modulation section can not be successfully recreated by utilizing samples. Despite the high CPU load, Wok states that Cromina String Machine gives a much better reproduction of the original sound. (wow, freely admitting a high CPU load? Wok must be pretty confident on the sound quality. —Ed.) Although this plug is focused on the Solina sound (including a phaser and delay effect), it can produce a wide range of typical sounds by using the integrated equalizer, vibrato, envelope variations (including a piano envelope) and other tuning controls.

Wok’s Cromina String Machine costs €37 and is available now as a VST plug-in for Windows. More information on Cromina String Machine.
