Is Native Instruments Readying New Digital DJ Products For MusikMesse?

Native Instruments was absent from all the digital DJ announcements at NAMM this year, focusing instead on their new Kore player and Soundpacks. However, Native usually waits until MusikMesse to unleash their biggest news. So we’re wondering if they’ve got anything cooking for the show in March.

With Serato, Stanton, Vestax, Numark, and others unveiling new products, will NI, with its software pedigree and new hardware expertise, make a move this year at Germany’s big GearFest? After the unsavory FinalScratch divorce between Native Instruments and Stanton, Serato gained a huge groundswell of momentum that has allowed their Digital Vinyl System (DVS) to become an industry standard. However, Serato’s Scratch is strictly a DVS. NI’s versatile Traktor is not only the leading standalone mixing software application on the market, but can also be used as a DVS with their Audio 8 DJ interface. With the debut of a sophisticated controller, NI could “own” all three categories and position itself as the most comprehensive digital DJ solution on the market.

So is a true Traktor controller headed our way? Or will NI simply be content to stay in the software arena with the release of Traktor 4?

Well, Native Instruments, has informed us that neither a DJ controller or Traktor 4 will premier at MusikMesse, but they didn’t say that they wouldn’t have anything new…
