GigFunder Launches – Crowd-Funded Band Tour Concept

GigFunder.com, the first crowd-funded tour site that allows dedicated fans to raise funds to send their favorite bands on the road, has launched. GigFunder.com is a unique way for bands to raise money to tour while fulfilling fans’ dreams of live performances by their favorite acts.

Using GigFunder, a fan can create campaigns to send the artist of their choice anywhere in the United States and support that artist’s tour. Other fans then log on to contribute to the campaign. If a tour is successfully funded, the fans will receive a wide range of awards from their favorite artists, such as VIP tickets to the shows or signed merchandise. These awards are specified by the artist and customized for every tour.

“GigFunder has the potential to change the music industry, but I never would have had the skills and confidence to go after and successfully execute such an ambitious product without my experience at Acton,” said Matt Pearson, Founder and CEO of GigFunder.com. “Once I identified the market’s needs for a site like this—and realized that I could use my passion for the music industry to fulfill that need—GigFunder was born.”

Any type of artist can register on GigFunder—including bands, comedians, magicians, DJs and speakers—making it a tremendous resource for acts that need a little extra funding before hitting the road. By simply registering on the site, artists can notify fans that they’re taking pledges and are ready to visit towns across American once the fundraising goal is reached. In addition, fans can proactively contact their favorite artists and request that they sign up with GigFunder for funding.

GigFunder is completely risk-free for consumers, as they won’t be charged anything if the tour they contributed to does not receive full funding. If the campaign is successful, the money for the tour goes straight to the artist. All payments are made via PayPal. Campaigns are limited to 30 days to allow artists time between accepting money for a successful campaign, booking a show, and getting there.

At launch, over a dozen well-known artists, in categories ranging from rock and pop to Christian and electronic, have already signed up to have their tours funded via GigFunder. More artists and bands will be added in the coming weeks, including those acts that are requested by their dedicated fans.

GigFunder was launched in 2012 as an online platform to unite musicians and fans. It’s the world’s first crowd-funded tour site that raises money to send musical acts on tour to cities specified by fans –with direct financial support from those fans. Using GigFunder, dedicated music fans have an opportunity to see a live show by their favorite artist in their own city. Artists then provide generous awards like free concert tickets or autographed merchandise to the fans who supported them. GigFunder is the in-demand resource for both up-and-comers and big name acts alike, as it allows them to connect with and reward their most loyal fans in a way that was never possible before.
