Friday Madness: Patchwerk
Interested in playing one of the largest, hand-built modular synthesizers in the world? We thought so…
Housed in the MIT Museum, the Paradiso Synthesizer contains over 200 modules hand-made by its namesake, Joe Paradiso, who over four decades created the massive modular you see here.
Thanks to a new web interface, anyone with a HTML5 enabled web browser can “play” the beomouth from the comfort of your own home. The web-enabled project, dubbed Patchwerk, allows anyone to control specific parameters on the synth in realtime. Up to twelve users can manipulate the action, so even if you have to wait in the queue, you should be able to get in on the action in short order.
