Dave Hill Jr. Leaves Ableton For iZotope

Ableton US Managing Director, Dave Hill Jr., announced that he is leaving the concern to join iZotope, a Boston, Massachusetts-based audio technology company. March 31, 2011 will be Hill Jr.’s last day.

Dave Hill Jr. rose to prominence when he authored Ableton Live 2 Power! The book’s light tone and insightful instruction easily eclipsed the manual and provided the onramp desperately needed by budding producers who were intrigued by Live’s value proposition. Ableton took notice and in short order hired Hill Jr. to run their US office based in New York.

“Thank you sincerely for all your help and support over the last 8 years. Ableton could not have succeeded without your help, advice, and hard work. I’ve had a blast working alongside you and doing my best to bring the Ableton Live story to the public. If you’ve worked with me, you likely know, I have loved using Ableton Live almost as much as I have loved sharing it with you and your customers. There’s just something about Ableton Live that makes teaching and talking shop so much fun. It is self-evident these days that Ableton has changed the way music is made for countless musicians, composers, DJs, theaters, sound designers, and those in the middle. I feel so fortunate to have been part of this team and to have read the many letters from happy customers and artists whom I never thought I’d meet, let alone, show them software tips!” ‐Dave Hill Jr.

Hill Jr. shepherded Ableton from version 3 to its current incarnation growing the user base exponentially along the way. Chris Woods will take over managing duties until a replacement can be found.
