MPD Software Unveils mobileRhythm mR-606 – iOS TR-606 Emulator

MPD Software has announced mobileRhythm mR-606, a Roland TR-606 emulator for iOS devices.

“The mR-606 drum machine is reminiscent of the classic 1980’s beatboxes that heavily influenced both the Detroit and Chicago house music scenes – the forebears of modern dance and techno music.” (Don’t you mean: “We’ve completely ripped off the Roland TR-606 and don’t want to pay them any type of royalty, so we decided to say ‘classic 1980’s beatboxes’ instead, but we’ll put up a modified picture of the 606 on our website.” —Ed.)

Then we get this lovely stroll down memory lane: “These classic boxes were re-discovered by the rave and acid music collectives of the ’90’s in the UK and in Europe, and have been popular ever since. Now hard to find in their original hardware form, the mobileRhythm mR-606 is destined to be popular with anyone who enjoys a bit of nostalgia in their music-making.”

MPD Software mobileRhythm mR-606 is now available in 3 versions: iPad, iPhone and Universal, for use on any iOS device and will set you back $5.99 / £3.49 before Roland’s attorney’s open a can of legal whoop-ass on founder Calum Deas. More information on the MPD mobileRhythm mR-606 app.
