Open Labs Unleashes NEKO QX6

Open Labs has released a new Neko workstation spearheaded by Jim Stout, a brilliant producer, engineer and most recently, sound designer extraordinaire. The GEN6 NeKo QX6 is based on the L-series and is powered by the Intel Core i3 processor. It features a 15″ touchscreen, a high-grade aircraft aluminum chassis, a 61 note built-in keyboard, and runs Windows 7 OS.

The Gen6 NeKo QX6 includes more than 10,000 high-quality preset sounds, a fully licensed version of Reaper 3.5 (DAW), the aesthetically-challenged, live virtual instrument host Riff, and practically unlimited capability for third-party plug-ins, VSTi’s and applications including Pro Tools, Native Instruments, Cubase, Ableton Live, Reason, and more.

» More than 10,000 high-quality sounds from wusik station 6 and others
» 15-inch touch screen for hands on control of any software parameter and two button touch pad
» Master Control Panel including transport controls, 4 plus 1 mappable faders, transpose functions and more
» Bump MP 4×4 velocity sensitive drum pad interface
» 61-key semi-weighted, synth-action keyboard with after-touch
» Comprehensive I/O capable of up to 24bit/96KHz audio with 4 in / 6 out including 2 phantom-powered mic-preamps with instrument inputs, S/PDIF I/O and MIDI I/O
» Intel i-3 2.93GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive, dual-layer CD/DVD burner
» 4 USB 2.0 ports (2 external/2internal), 1 Firewire 1394 port, 1 DVI Video port, 1 Ethernet port, Internet ready
» External QWERTY keyboard
» Upgradeable

The Future: Now here’s the kicker, the QX6 is being released this month, but the version you’re going to want with over 2000 sounds and presets created by Stout himself, is not going to be released until Summer NAMM. So we recommend holding off a bit, since the QX6 is worth its significant price solely for Stout’s sounds and presets…now throw in a full-on workstation with the latest Win-tel box and you’ve got Open Labs most attractive product release to date.

Open Labs’ Neko QX6 costs $3999 and is available now. More information on Open Labs Neko QX6.
