Calvin Harris Premiers The Borat Humanthesizer

This lunacy seems like something that Sasha Baron Cohen would dream up, but apparently Calvin Harris has decided to rig up a bevy of bikini clad women with some sort of conductive paint to perform a version of his mediocre new single “Ready For The Weekend” (Got My Ass-less Chaps On)” on a unique human synthesizer that he’s dubbed, a Humanthesizer. The synth part is really Ableton Live with MaxDSP doing the heavy lifting of interpreting the triggers.

The “instrument” uses Bare Conductive, a new skin safe ink which conducts electricity, thus completing a circuit and triggering a note. The instrument consists of 34 pads on the floor which have been painted with the conductive ink and connected to a computer. The performers stand on the pads, and touch hands to complete a circuit and trigger notes. Harris walks around during the “performance” and fondles each chicks hand in a rather unctuous manner.

The project is the result of a collaboration between Calvin Harris and masters students from the Royal College of Art’s Industrial Design Engineering program, which clearly has no problem flushing their endowment funds down the toilet.

Sasha, you can come out now…
