MySpace Music Announces IODA Deal

MySpace Music announced that IODA, a digital distributor of independent labels will provide its catalog of music to the recently launched MySpace Music.  The addition of IODA will inject over one million new songs into MySpace Music’s growing indie catalogue.
 
Through this partnership, the MySpace Music community will be able to stream and purchase music from IODA’s catalog of more than one million tracks from a diverse array of 50,000 artists around the globe, ranging from established classics to modern up-and-comers. The IODA roster includes thousands of quality labels from over 50 countries, including leading names like Arts & Crafts, Ace Records, Nacional Records, Ghostly International, Bonnier Amigo, Cherry Red Records, Cooking Vinyl, Demon Music Group, Fat Cat Records, Kanine Records, Light in the Attic, Naive, Premium Latin Music, Relapse and Rounder Records.
 
MySpace Music recently launched the first phase in an iterative global product rollout, which will ultimately include a vast catalog of premium and promotional content, a selection of new user-to-user sharing tools, digital e-commerce opportunities for artists, and sales of merchandise and concert tickets. The new functionality is fully available for U.S. MySpace users as well as fully localized for the MySpace en Espanol community. Select products including the newly designed music player are available globally to MySpace’s more than 120 million global users (comScore September 2008).
 
The IODA catalog includes artists such as Animal Collective, Between the Trees, Burial, Chairlift, Del the Funky Homosapien, Dragonette, Four Year Strong, Frightened Rabbit,  London Symphony Orchestra, Sara Tavares, Aventura, Billie Holliday, Blind Pilot, CAKE, D’Angelo, Matthew Dear, Matt Nathanson, The Pinker Tones, The Black Angels, They Might Be Giants, Tina Dico, The Wrens, Black Uhuru, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Fela Kuti, Master P, Seu Jorge, Pink Martini, P.O.D., Presidents of the U.S.A., Ray Charles, School of Seven Bells, The Stills, Tokyo Police Club, Mariza, and Yo La Tengo.
 
MySpace Music hosts more than 5 million major, indie, and unsigned artists within the site’s music profiles section, which provides for a vast artist-powered collection of songs, music videos, tour dates, blogs, and photos.  MySpace’s deep, long-standing ties to the music community have allowed for numerous exclusive features from the most groundbreaking musicians in the world and the its new marketing initiatives will greatly enhance the existing MySpace Music offline concert franchises including Secret Shows, MySpaceLIVE!, Transmissions, The Release, Front to Back, and The List.
