Apple Patent Reveals Plastic Touch Screen Technology

A recently-published Apple patent application reveals a new process for creating plastic touch screen panels dubbed a PET-based touch pad. The patent outlines a touch screen comprised of two layers of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), housed in an iPhone and an iPod.

The drawings suggest that Apple could add the new technology to existing lines, but it also hints at new applications such as a tablet or touch screen laptop.
