Ticketmaster Goes Paperless

Well, it looks like there’s going to one less collectible music keepsake in our future. Ticketmaster has announced that it is going paperless. That’s right, instead of handing the sacred paper ticket to the live music gatemaster, you’ll simply swipe your plastic.

Beginning with Tom Waits’s Glitter and Doom Tour, Ticketmaster will start implementing a new technology, giving that it has dubbed “Paperless Ticket.” Lot’s of savvy brainstorming there…

The Paperless Ticket will be introduced at major venues across North America and Canada over the next 12-18 months.
Paperless Tickets must be purchased, with a limit of two per customer, at Ticketmaster’s website, or Ticketmaster charge by phone, using a credit card. Paperless ticket holders will bypass lines at the will-call window, instead presenting venue doorstaff with the purchasing credit card and a photo ID. Door staff will swipe the credit card to confirm the tickets, giving paperless ticket holders easy access to the event.
