Coldplay’s Free “Violet Hill” Downloaded Over 2 Million Times

According to EMI, Coldplay’s “Violet Hill” was downloaded more than 2 million times during the one week free promotion.

When it was initially offered on April 29th, Coldplay’s servers were inundated with requests causing it to crash. However, despite the problems, the track was reportedly downloaded 600,000 times on the first day.

The new album, “Vida La Vida or Death and All His Friends,” will be released internationally on June 12 and in the US on June 17. Coldplay will perform two free concerts at London’s Brixton Academy on June 16 and at New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 23 to rev up promotion.
