iTunes Now Number Music Retailer In US
Apple has announced that iTunes has overtaken Wal-Mart to become the number one music retailer in the United States. The statistics are based on the latest data from the NPD Group’s MusicWatch survey, which captures consumer behavior and counts one CD as representing 12 tracks.
In less than five years, iTunes has skyrocketed to the top of the music retailer food chain, no small feat. The iTunes Store has sold over four billion songs, and currently offers the world’s largest music catalog with over six million songs.
