California Seeking To Tax Music Downloads

Other states are considering similar measures, but Assemblyman Charles Calderon of Whittier is attempting to use an unorthodox and dodgy voting strategy to get it passed, circumventing the state’s requirement that two-thirds of the legislature approve of any new tax.

Even if the iTax, as it has become known, is passed, it will immediately face legal challenges.
